FUNCTIONAL ABA

Pyramid Approach to Education®

The Functional ABA – Pyramid Approach to Education® was designed by Andy Bondy, PhD, and is based on the principles of Functional Applied Behavior Analysis. It is a comprehensive framework aiming at shaping and supporting effective learning environments, such as home, school, workplaces and community. It is used to benefit people of all ages with developmental differences, autism, communication difficulties and/or other learning difficulties.

The Functional ABA – Pyramid Approach to Education® is depicted in the form of a pyramid.
At its square base lies the “why” of the science of learning.
At the edges of the base we find the “what” we teach, so its foundations are Functional Activities, Powerful Reinforcement Systems, Functional Communication and Social Skills through the Contextually Inappropriate Behaviours.
The edges towards the apex are about “how” we teach, through the Effective Lessons, Teaching/Prompting Strategies, Error Correction and Generalisation.
The implementation of the Pyramid Approach to Education® is based on decision-making after systematic data collection and analysis.
