Education

Education is an Occupation according to the American Occupational Therapy Association, which encompasses the process of acquiring knowledge, developing skills, and engaging in lifelong learning. Education is a crucial component of occupational therapy practice, as it enables Occupational Therapy practitioners to provide evidence-based interventions that promote the occupational performance and participation of their clients.

Education as Continuing professional development (CPD) is essential especially for Occupational Therapists (OTs), Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), and other healthcare professionals. CPD involves the ongoing acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies to enhance professional practice and improve patient outcomes. It allows healthcare practitioners to stay up-to-date with new developments in their field, by staying current with the latest research, expand their knowledge and skills, by acquiring new techniques, and technologies and gain new perspectives on patient care, enhancing the quality of their services.

Participation in Education for professionals by engaging in CPD activities may include attending webinars, seminars, workshops, and conferences, undertaking online courses or reading relevant literature.
